My kids are finally getting to the age where we can go outside Disney. They will be 9,7 and 5 for this vacation. I would like to do something outdoors in line with Yosemite, Jackson Hole, Cali Muir Woods.
Anyone take kids that age to these places with favorable outcome?

Yellowstone would be perfect

My parents took us to The Smokies, the Rockies, Yosemite, etc when we were young kids. I'm talking like 5 yrs old & up. They took us hiking up The Chimneys, Clingman's Dome, Cascade Falls, Hallet Peak, Yosemite Falls etc. We loved it. Just make sure to prepare and have snacks and water available. I loved those vacations as a kid way more than Disney World. The first time I saw snow was in Rocky Mtn National Park in July and I remember everything about it to this day.

The Smokey Mountains are pretty solid if you're not looking to go all out.

No kids here but I guess the youngest is the limiting factor? I can recall going to parks out west, like Yellowstone, as a 6 year old and had a blast. Good call on getting them outdoors. Growing up I appreciated those trips more and more. I now take my dad out to hiking trips like that - he's always said how glad he was that he got us into that sort of thing early.

Brought our then 5 year old to Zion NP and the Grand Canyon and he loved it. Also went to Disney World, and then later Sedona when he was 6. He asks to go hiking in the mountains all the time. He doesn't ask to go back to Disney.
