So I'm driving to work, no warning, it just shut down. Good thing I was in a straight away, lost power steering.
So now, it cranks just fine. Sounds normal, but no start. The engine has been hesitating for quite some time and kinda sputtering when idling sometimes. I know jack shite about autos, but I thought the fuel pump/filter or something related may be involved? Any ideas??? My procrastination gets me again!
****So get this shite....it blew the fuse that controls the fuel injection. Now the question is why????? Much appreciation for the help guys...now I'm going pay my $31 bill!!!

Nota mechanic IRL or on the OT but year and model would probably help someone.

Did it show any check engine lights or other signs besides just dying? Generally an engine needs compression, fuel and spark to run. Sounds like you have spark so next thing to check is fuel. Turn the key to the accessory position and see if you hear the fuel pump hum or whine. If it hums, then the fuel pump is working so the problem would be downstream of the fuel pump which generally means a clogged fuel filter. If it does not hum or whine, it means the fuel pump has no power.

Sounds like a fuel pump. If it's a chevy you will most likely have t to drop the fuel tank in order to get to the pump. Could be just the filter, but in my experience if it gets to the point that it kills the engine the pump is already toast. PS there is a special tool needed to remove the filter

Sounds like a fuel issue. Can be anything from clogged fuel line, faulty injector, fuel pump failure or a number of other things. Of course the only way to know for sure is get it to a qualified mechanic and have them diagnose the problem.
What's your make and model by the way?

I had the same thing happen to my Nissan Frontier, check engine had light had been on for about a week when it just died going down the road. I checked everything from the fuel pump to the spark plugs, turned out the gas cap was broke . I put a new gas cap on and after about 50 miles the check engine light went off and haven't had a problem with it.

I am going to assume that you never had the code read so that really does not help out. It is going to be your fuel pump more than likely.

you got two years with the ce light on? Don't be a tightwad- tow and get it fixed.

code to tell u why the light is on? No

Mine did the same thing 7 yrs ago. I had clogged converters.
Cut off the catalytic converters, ran true duels with glass packs----problem solved.
