re: Possibility of Teuhema moving outside like Vadal did?

quote:Some of you overuse the term "melt". Melt is what happened after Ole Miss '09, Tennessee '10 or Bama '11. The general consensus is Pocic is built to be a tackle and was sold on coming back to school to be a tackle and turn into a top 15 pick. If he wasn't moved outside the fans would wonder why, but it would be far from a melt.
I wonder what the melt will be like if Pocic doesn't move outside.

It shouldnt be a big deal, the guy is a stud Center.

He came back because he had hip surgery and that would have affected his draft stock.

Don't count out Josh Boutte. He had a great spring in 2015 and I hope he progresses as much this spring.
I hope he can get it together and grab a starting OG spot. He's big as a mountain.

That is how I see it, at least everywhere but LG. I see Valentine Okeke there. Teuhema has great footwork and that is a must for an OT.

If Boutte could learn how to pass block well, that would be great. He's a road grader for the running game.
Hope Moffit gets them stronger this off season.

Does he have quick feet for pass protection against speedy DEs?

Clapp has a high football IQ
I'm sure he has that "high motor" as well.

I've heard this as well. The NFL is beginning to put a higher value on centers and many feel that this may be his best and most lucrative position at the next level
The mock draft for 2017 had him being picked highly at the center position FWIW.

Vadal struggled outside, sometimes guards struggle in space with speed.

He came back because he had hip surgery. Most mocks have him being drafted as an interior linemen.

Let's not forget about Valentine O Ke Ke everyone was saying last year he was if you turn left tackle in the NFL

Next in Weathersby 6'5 300

Damn, don't know why all the downvotes. This has been reported by reputable people. Apparently he sees himself as a Center at the next level.

Centers are starting to be a top priority on the next level.

This. People forget he started out 2015 as a starter before Teuhema came in permanently. He's a load and one of the strongest on the team. He just needs to get his technique down and he'll be on the field.
I'm also in the camp that Pocic will slide to the outside. This is how I think next season's lineup will look:
Pocic/Malone/Chidi
Teuhema/Brumfield/Magee
Clapp/Dodd
Boutte/Brumfield
Weathersby/Malone/George Brown
The staff absolutely loves Pocic and will give him a chance to play outside if he wants it.

Pocic surely knows the odds are he won't have the strength & leverage to block guys like Suh & Donald. I'd be surprised if there ever was a 6'7 center in the NFL before period.
Scouts look for long arms, quick feet in tackles, & Pocic has that in spades. His versatility will be a plus, but no way he isht starting LT next year unless someone just kills it in the spring. It's his turn.

I agree. I think versatility on the OLine is what NFL scouts are REALLY looking for. If we used Vadal at Tackle to up his draft stock, why wouldn't we use Pocic? He is a waaayyy more natural tackle than Vadal is.
It might also help Harris see the passing lanes better if he doesn't have a 6'7" center getting stood up and pushed back into him on pass plays.
