No, the goal of every movie released isn't to make as much money as possible. If it was every movie would be a comic book movie.
Thankfully some people still put out movies with the intention of them actually being good, which has proven over time to be a viable strategy.

Oh, okay then. Perhaps you should tell the movie studios that after spending $20 million on Jennifer Lawrence to lead their arthouse Oscar-bait films.
