im very critical of action movies, but mad max, the raid, and the raid 2 are some of the best i've seen.
the tropes that you don't like are just the nature of the genre. i come from a more literary background as well, and I basically came to terms with the genre and trained myself to enjoy movies that were well-done. it's all you can really ask for.

Right. Exactly why after Mad max I got so upset. I thought to myself, this is a good action movie, but I still disliked it. Hence, my desperation in starting this thread, begging for help.
