How would you go about scanning old Gumbo yearbooks?

I have some of my father's LSU Gumbo yearbooks from 1936-1940. I need some advice on how I could scan them without damaging the binding.

If left to my own device, I could go to a Kinko's and find a large copier and just lay them flat and do one page at a time.

Anybody have a better idea?

Any good ideas on how to achieve the best possible quality on the copes?

I would not mind sharing them once it was done.

thanks

Serious. I have a high speed color scanner in BR

I can get my interns to scan and rebind. I'm very interested in getting a copy
