have a very budget system. Receiver, sub and 7 speakers were right at 1k.

You can get some quality sound from a budget system if you just do your research.

I only have to fill a 12x15 room. I spent most on my sub and receiver. Went budget bookshelf speakers for a 5.1.2 system. One day when they kids are old enough not to knock down floor standing speakers I'll upgrade the fronts.

Polk TL2 $99.95 ea

Polk sub $239.95

Yamaha receiver $229.95

These have served me extremely well for a budget home audio system. I haven't needed a center channel.

You're doing it wrong. Center Channel is extremely important in a home theater setup.

I know some people that get by on a 2.1 setup but their L-R speakers have to be very good to handle the load of dialogue from the lack of a center.

I don't want to start a new thread, so I'll ask here.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheapish center speaker ($100 or less)?

My current setup is a Samsung HW-C700 receiver, Polk PSW110 sub, and some Sony bookshelf speakers for a 2.1 setup. I've gotten everything off Craigslist for around $200, so I'm looking to stay in the bargains

I get by on a 2.0 system and it sounds very good for movies. $1k integrated amp with $1k floor standing towers. Gets the job done with amazing results...to me at least.

Pioneer SP-C22 Andrew Jones line. Amazon has it for 97$. Good center to start with and build from there.
