Re-enrolled at LSU

I went to lsu for a few years, had way too much fun, and was kindly asked to leave, so I took a few years off. I'm restarting in less than a week and taking a warm up semester to acclimate myself to school again. When I first went to school i changed majors twice and gained a handful of credits in social sciences(SS Econ/PoliSci.) I'm currently scheduled to major in computer science with a concentration in software engineering; however, due to my warm up semester I have time to determine for sure what engineering degree I want (Computer Science is in the engineering college.) I would greatly appreciate some advice as to what I should consider studying. Any information regarding double majoring, e.g. CSC and electrical engineering would be appreciated also. I have nearly all of my non major electives and gen eds completed including this semesters classes, so a double major is appealing in the respect that I generally will not be a full time student unless I double major or pick up a minor.
Tl;dr: Going back to lsu, what is the best engineering degree

Construction Management. Its not too challenging, offers plenty of job opportunities when you graduate, industry support is more present there than any other major.

I seriously hope they've improved the operating systems and algorithms courses. I knew far more going in than they hoped to teach, and I thought those courses were a total fricking joke.

I'm not concerned with a challenge. I was lucky to be readmitted to LSU, so at this point I'm ready to put my nose down and do whatever it takes to get a great degree. Especially since I'm going to be taking out student loans for a lot of my school.

If I went back to college it would be for Econ
I may go back for grad school in demography at FSU though - I just don't want to live in Tallahassee
ETA: Good luck obtaining your degree

I majored in civil at LSU. Had job offers in transportation and oil of all random things coming out of school. Currently work in construction (admin and management). I like that my degree seems to have provided me with a versatile skill set that could get me hired in a broad variety of fields. I hear mechanical is good for that as well.
However, it does seem that you are not as interested in the fields of engineering I was. I've heard good things about that double major program for cs/ee, but I don't know anyone personally from LSU that did it.

There are alot of people like yourself in CM at LSU. I was in the same situation you are in back in '10. If you put in the time to network and graduate a good job will be waiting for you.

I've had only one job since I failed out 3 years ago, and I've met a lot of people that I could network with. Is construction management an engineering degree?

You're getting close to opening Pandora's box

I assume it's not in the engineering college then with that response haha

Question: why were you asked to leave? GPA or fricked a pig in the quad type thing?
Posted on 1/8/16 at 9:40 am to ZacharyTiger17
No, but its college of engineering

Take easy classes now to boost your GPA, then start taking relevant classes. Trust me on this

I know you're looking for engineering, just wanted to offer a helpful alternative

College of engineering/Engineering college=Semantics. I failed out due to lack of maturity and utter lack of commitment.

That's not what I was getting at. You'll get a degree from the college of engineering with CM, but you'll never be able to be a licensed engineer with said degree. You could end up with a positing that has engineer in the title though. It's just a distinction that always gets made in threads like these. CM is a very different skill set in my opinion from the engineering disciplines, but is certainly a good one that can provide a great career for you if you choose it.
Some engineers (usually students in school more so than professionals) look down on CMs, but not me.
