It is effective in changing behavior, but also teaches the child that violence/force/power is a valid means of education or reaching an end. It's the means of raising a child for those with limited intelligence or parenting skills.
It's a terrible idea.

Sometimes an attitude adjustment is in order. All children are different. What works for one will not work for the other.

I know plenty of people who weren't spanked that are very well adjusted and accomplished so I don't think it's required at all.
I also think some kids are just born shitty and nothing is going to fix them, spanking et al. Observations of good parents with multiple good kids and one super shitty one.

Are you arguing that it's Not a valid means of education or reaching an end?
When you were small and reached out and touched something hot, did you learn not to do it again because you had to "sit in a corner and think about what you'd done", or because it hurt?

You're trolling as hard as the OP now. A spanking is effective in certain situations. How it's done and when is an important aspect of its effectiveness. IVe had horses and dogs who needed a good wack. When applied quickly at the time of the transgression, corporal punishment was very effective. I myself was a kid who, in certain situations, only responded to a spanking.
Oh and violence/force/power is a valid means of reaching an end. Just ask the Japanese about Nagasaki and Hiroshima

Sometimes it is. Depending on the situation.
Or do you think we shouldve just politely asked the Nazis to stop what they were doing?
After WW1 we put Germany in a timeout. That led to WW2.
After WW2 we beat the shite out of Germany and they've been fine since.

when has understanding this ever been a bad thing?
at the end of the day, violence is power. this will also be true tomorrow, in 100 years, and in 1,000,000 years
