Still waiting for the DayZ standalone which is probably never coming...
I purchased a buddy and myself a copy of the DayZ standalone. We lasted maybe 3-4months and gave it up. It was a better game than the mod pre-hacker hacks but the bugs killed us. Literally killed us, you would load in much too often dead.

H1Z1 has potential, if you get on a good server. It's still in dev stages, so you can expect wipes sometimes. Then, if you get bored, you can go into Battle Royale and basically get into a big FFA where you have to find weapons and vehicles before everyone else. There are both PVP and PVE servers as well.
Personally, and I'm possibly in the minority, but I enjoyed State of Decay. There's something about a game that treats dead characters as they are dead.

Hackers, like you said and underpopulated maps killed the game. Had they put the time and effort into it when it first came out and released the SA within a few months it would still be worth playing.

Grav looks fun, but I've never pulled the trigger on it. Same with Sub-Nautica.
