Yep on the amps. You'll prob want to make sure that you get a variable speed.
I was just about to post that I want a spindle sander. Just can't see dropping the money because I haven't needed it often enough.

same here. I did pick up some sanding drums that run in the drill press recently. So far i'd rate them as not ideal but certainly better than nothing, which is about what I expected.
