Heroin is a massive problem everywhere because of the tightening of the prescription drug market. This is a very legitimate time to use the phrase "Thanks Obama".

Instead of generally safe party drugs you used to be able to get at a shady doctors office people are mainlining heroin accross the nation now.

The loss of the prescription drug market coupled with the sudden craze for EDM and mdma, ex, etc... by our youth is a very interesting thing to study.

It's slowly blowing up and catching national attention, but doctors, Pharmacists, lawyers, and those paying attention have seen this trend developing for a few years now.

It's only going to get worse

Solenoid coils a big problem at LSU? It is a mechanical college after all, you think they would welcome the maker of fine industrial parts such as Herion....

This may be an ignorant question, but exactly how hard is it to buy some regular pain pill off the street from some dealer? I don't have much experience with drugs but my mind has always been blown how people turn to something they have to shoot up their veins instead of just buying regular hydrocodone or oxycodones off the street?

From the sounds of things, it comes down to price and availability

Degenerate drug users only do pain pills until they realize pills are for weak bitches, and anyone in their position with any courage would use heroin.

Fantastic post.
The only thing I will add is that the mexican cartels are heavily involved in opium production now as well. With the legalization of pot in the us, the cartels stood to lose 40% of their profit. They saw this circa 2005, and now mexico is the world's second leading producer of opium. Behind Afghanistan of course.
The market is flooded with cheap heroin.

If anybody is interested on the subject, I wrote (but didn't publish) a 30 page study on the upcoming epidemic in 2013 when I was in DC.

That is very interesting. If I had more time right now I would absolutely read your paper. Drugs have always fascinated me. Incredible that these chemicals have the power to destroy people and even whole communities, and also can turn people into kings.

Yep, the exact reason that it is a viable option

They are bringing in most of the high quality meth too. Lots of bad stuff coming across the Southern Border.

I am sure if you look Har enough you can find it anywhere. Doesn't mean that it is a problem at LSU.
