That injury can become chronic very easily. He is not thinking straight unless he is getting bad medical advice. No sense burning his health of this dumpster fire of a D.

Sean Payton probably wants Brees to break Manning's all-time passing yards record as much as Brees. Shutting him down puts it in jeopardy, since he's already going to be 39 when (if) it happens.
At this point for both of them, it's about career stats and records. Brees is Payton's ticket to Canton, if that ever happens.
