Thanks for the info.
He actually told me that for a 2005 BMW that I own (now driven by daughter). I assumed it applied to the 2014 Mercedes since they both require high octane gas. Is he at least on point about using brand name gas?

I tend to agree.
Octane is octane, but Shell and Chevron, etc. have better formulas and detergents.
I only run Chevron b/c I am a believer in Techron.

Yes. Though between BP, Shell, Exxon, etc it doesn't matter.
