This is your answer. If you're the sight seeing type, make sure to hit Florence, Rome & Venice, day trip to Pisa/cinque Terra (sp?). Would be a full week but well worth it.
Or if you just want to stay in one place and take in the sights, any of those places would be fun to stay a week.

Was maybe thinking Milan then over to Venice and maybe a train ride down to Rome for a couple of days. Don't know if a week would allow for getting down to Rome however.
