ChatRabbit, would you consider your parents to be well off? By that I mean in the top 10% income level in India? I am trying to gauge how they would economically fit it here in say Baton Rouge. Are they in on of the nicest neighborhoods there?

Also, if one was making about $125,000 a year here what would that equate to there?

My grandparents are easily top 5 percent. No house in their neighborhood is less than $800,000 USD. 125k a year in USD will put you up at a very high level considering how many poor people live here. Conversion is 67rupees per dollar but cost of living here is low. You could have a nice apartment and car here for that much. My parents don't live here, they live in BR. Dad is a doctor here.
