In hindsight I think we might have even been able to sign Koufos because the cap went up $3 million more than expected. BUT, they don't release that info until well after you've made your plans and some wink wink agreements. Also Koufos probably preferred going to Sacramento because the last time he was a starter was under Karl. And signing a guy like Biyombo looks better than what's gone down with Asik, because Asik hasn't worked out at all, but Biyombo and Asik have a lot of the same positives and negatives except Asik was much more proven as a starter. I wouldn't have gotten upset at choosing Biyombo over Asik, but I wouldn't have thought it was a good move either. The problem with Asik wasn't resigning him, it was bidding against yourself on a long term deal.

Except for one huge difference between them.
As i said a multitude of times, there were a few under $3million dollar centers that could offer what Asik offers, which isn't much. Biyombo was one of them. 2 years, $3 million a year, but Asik is worth $10 million a year. Seraphin was another option under $3million.

We didnt' need to try to sign a long term center, since Asik should not have been the long term solution. We should have signed a minimum guy, with the intent on him not being on the team long, or being the backup to a starting center we would try to get this year via trade or FA. That's what Kendrick Perkins is. That was a good sign, we just should have signed two of him.
