Proper etiquette for texting a girl u r interested in?

I am newly divorced and trying to get back in the game after roughly ten years. My buddies tell me that if a girl that u like texts u, the general rule is to take 15-20 minutes to respond. When she replies, if it took her 10 minutes, u are supposed to wait 20 minutes to reply back. This seems a little silly but so far it seems to work. Is this standard practice for most people these days?

i have never/would never follow that shite. I guess i dont double text bc i dont text people whom don't respond, but that rule shite goes out the window if you are actually attractive and/or the girl likes you

don't put a time limit on it, but generally yeah, once you get the text just put your phone down for a bit, pick it back up sometime later and text back. Make it seem like you're not that interested

If you like her, show her interest. If she likes you she will show it back. Don't wait any certain amount of time, but don't sit by your phone and wait either. Live your life, include conversations in it. If she gets weird about you showing interest she isn't worth your time anyway. Nobody has time to deal with petty.
Also, talk normally. There is nothing more aggravating than getting a text that says, "U on ur way yet? Gonna b L8". Make complete sentences, we don't have to push buttons anymore.
