Has anyone here actually attended a game? I'm going to be in Manchester for 3 weeks in December/January and would like to attend a United and City game. I'm trying to figure out how to purchase tickets, it seems like i can only really get tickets through the club website. Is it worth it to become a "member"?

Any info from people who have been over there would be great.

For most clubs, you have to be a member to purchase tickets.

Some clubs have agreements with third-party sites like StubHub.

I've been to Old Trafford and the Etihad.

If you are going to a premiership game you have to be a member for United. 60 bucks and you can buy tickets. Everyone going will need to be a member.

For City you likely won't have to be a member, lots of tickets available and I ain't even flaming. I went to a Chelsea vs Man City FA cup match and it was extremely easy to get tickets which I was surprised. I think it was the 5th round? I forget.

Purchased both straight from their respective websites.

Cup matches are an entirely different animal.

Like SCH likes to remind me every home game, the Etihad is rarely full.

MLS games are more interesting than United games. You are better off going to City and at least watch an entertaining team.

You guys are funny. You think tourists go to Wrigley to watch the Cubs?

I can't stand United, but if I was in Manchester it would be a must see.

United match you need to be a member. Tickets almost never go on general sale. If they do its about less than 50. The only time they hit general sale is for league cup/fa cup match ups vs lesser teams.

City tickets always make general sale so your chances of snapping those are pretty good. They might require you to register with ticket master but that's about it. If you want to get their tickets earlier then get a membership but around a week out they are put on general sale. City likes to use a purchase history for fans who want a guaranteed ticket.

This was City's last home game, and thats with Hull bringing 5k fans.
