That they cost more money than they earn in return. It's reasons we haven't sent full Tiger Band to some bowls.

Considering the monetary state of LSU should we even play in a bowl game if it's a net loss?

LSU has a money issue that dictated decisions. It would be hypocritical to go to a bowl game and lose money for the AD now.

Good insight.

Extra practice time is allowed, so there's that.

Yeah what kind of message does it send to the state to give the team a weeks vacation in Houston?

The benefits: recruiting, practice, players, fans, etc =/= budget crisis.

Seems hypocritical or placating to get a net loss on a bowl appearance when all that matters is +/- gain in light of LSU's academic budget concerns. Why waste money on a bowl game?

With your logic, why play the season next year? This might be the dumbest thread I have ever seen and considering the competition on this board, that is a big feat.

Exactly.

LSU is likely to take a monetary loss by traveling and playing in the game.

The money could not be used and not affect the academic budget at all. Why hedge now?

I'm guessing you're being sarcastic but if not, then wrong. The athletic department, particularly football, makes money. Moreover the benefit of extra practices and playing in Houston can have on recruiting it's a no brainer, you happily play the game and hopefully get a win and some bragging rights over a Texas school.

LSU makes money for the regular season.

If the bowl game costs the program money, then we shouldn't play because LSU is facing a budget crisis.

Interesting that now people care about the budget crisis after the last two weeks so many people told us that they didn't care about the budget, just lsu athletics and that athletics is separate from the school budget.

Interesting moving of the goal posts to try to make a shitty point.

Was it that difficult? Really?

Logic is solid. If decisions are made with LSU academic budget crisis agenda, then playing in a bowl game that equals a net loss should be a concern.

Not obvious?

I'm just saying that if budget concerns are the reasons for LSU academics to step in and dictate what happens in LSU athletics, then why hedge now?

Bowl game will lose money. If the conviction is true and LSU AD gets hamstrung by LSU academics then why not now? Seems hypocritical to me.

Interesting that so many cared about the budget crisis before and now they don't.

It's almost as if it had nothing to do with the budget at all for these people and was about Team Les. But you wouldn't know anything about that, would you, BeeFense...
