1. Insufferable Hipster who wants to show his/her progressiveness and sympathy by raising a pitt that was likely rescued from...

2. An ignorant thug who gets the dog precisely because of its deserved image as a violent, aggressive animal.

These two groups don't want affection from a pet. The image the dog provides to each respectively is the motivating factor.

Spot on. Dogs are a reflection of their owners. The people that want a pit bull are generally trash and mistreat their dogs.
