Why is that his strained logic that "the public and legislature don't understand" it's private money, apply to how much we pay Miles ($5M/annually)to stay?

Oh, but it does, I'm sure. He can't do anything about the current contract. If he's still here the next time a contract is in play, I'm sure he'll apply the same logic then as well.

Dude is clearly playing the card that he has to focus attention on the public funding of the University side of things.

What's the old joke? "When 90,000 people show up to watch a college student take a test, I guess people will vote to properly fund universities" or somesuch? Looks like Mr. Alexander has figured out a way (potentially) to *make* people care.

"You want me to sign off on paying $5 mil a year on a coach? Well, you better pressure your legislators to give us what we want."

I agree with him. Yes a change would have been good especially Jimbo but just reading the comments on social media and news active site. He is right.

The majority are idiots and could not differentiate the difference in money from the tax payers for education and the private money for athletics.

Those of us here know the difference but the overwhelming majority in this social media age didn't and wouldn't listen to explanation either.

He was between a tick and a hard place and made the decision that would keep the shite storm away. The reality is that even though athletics is a major part. He is looking out for the university as a whole
