yet, i'm not the only one saying the same story. but but they're ALL wrong.

they are wrong. All of them.

You are asking me to believe that Jimbo was in Florida coaching his last game expecting to become LSU's coach...and Alexander nixed the deal.

You are asking me to believe that despite the very numerous reports that the Jimbo deal had fallen through 24-48 hours earlier.

You are asking me to ignore that the local media started walking back the story the day of the game.

You are asking me to believe that Alexander, whose position is largely political, decided to buck the money boosters, the AD, and a significant portion of the BOS (enough to support the ousting of Miles) because he felt the optics of the situation weren't right.

You are asking me to believe that all of this was done at the last minute when common sense would have dictated that if he was going to object...he could have done so for at least 2 weeks.

Use your common sense. Jimbo was the target. The deal fell through. And, LSU had no other plan. The options were to keep Miles...or fire him and take on that huge buyout with a totally open coaching search.

There is an article out there that has been linked on several posts, if you believe the author, that says some of that you posted about Alexander is indeed true.

ETA: note that I'm not saying anything about Jimbo being lined up, nothing. Only about Alexander, his timing, and nixing the deal.

PROVE
IT

that's the point of the responses to the op. prove that the people who were saying a similar story were absolutely, irrefutably wrong. it can't be done because the doubters weren't in on EVERY CONVERSATION between the major players.

it appears that this is at least partially what happened and it's not hard to believe for reasonable people

the timeline is in question, yes.

different people were getting different stories from different people, yes. not unheard of.

no, apparently, the booster were not in agreement on the matter so, he didn't "buck" the money

he felt the optics of the situation weren't right.
he's done something similar in the recent past. what's so hard to believe about this?

quote:

he could have done so for at least 2 weeks.
again, the timeline is in question

when did i say something different? this is almost precisely what everyone, except shortbus lunchbox has been saying. the "deal fell through" part is the mystery.
