From what I gather, Jesuit spends quite a while preparing their students for college acceptance testing. Maybe they prepared their students to do well in the tests, but coddling kids really doesn't prepare them for the real world.
This is so ignorant I'm not even really sure why I'm bothering to reply to it.

When he got a scholarship to UNO and decided to live in the dorm, his first three roommates were all Jesuit National Merit Semi-Finalists. Every one of them got a 0.0 GPA in their first semester at college. You just can't make this shite up.
Apparently you can just make this shite up.

I seriously doubt that three merit scholars would end up at a shitty school like UNO

My son took three semesters of Calculus at Tulane during his Junior and Senior years of High School. He erroneously thought he could get a Tulane scholarship by setting the curve in three consecutive Calculus classes. Not. All the Tulane students despised him. The test average was typically 50 and he would score 100+ (bonus questions).
So Tulane didnt offer a scholarship to your son because he was smarter than Tulane students while still in HS? I would think thats who you would want to offer a scholarship to.

When you get a 0.0 in college it doesnt mean you are stupid, it means you dont fricking care about school.

Reading the entirety of this thread I have gathered that this is one big catholic league pissing match.
I'm a north LA public school product. So I will just see my way to the door.

I will just say Andrew Jackson before Katrina... parents heard "no football" and bought into the hype, but they weren't all that
but since they took non-football kids, they left Chalmette a class below where they should have been from the late 80s all the way until Katrina

Jesuit High School’s 43 National Merit Semifinalists and eight National Hispanic Scholars in the Class of 2016 will be recognized in front of the entire student body at a Morning Assembly in the near future.
The 43 National Merit Scholars in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program are the most from any one school in Louisiana and represent 20% of the state’s 212 honorees from 52 different high schools. The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to that state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors. This marks the 61st year of the scholarship program, which today recognizes some 16,000 semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
Jesuit’s Class of 2016 has the largest number of semifinalists since the Class of 2004 produced 54. In the 13-year period, beginning with the Class of 2004 through the Class of 2016, Jesuit has produced a total of 456 National Merit Semifinalists. In that same period, Jesuit also has 243 Commended Students, which includes the 22 Blue Jays in the Class of 2016.

Private: St Paul's
Both have good students due to demographics
disagree
St Paul's has PLENTY of not so bright lower/middle income rednecks. The honors program is EXCELLENT. The spiritual/moral leadership is unsurpassed. It's not as good as Christ, but excellent none the less.
SSA on the other hand is a horrible joke.
And people who say Jesuit is over-rated are just silly, no point listing the facts that prove otherwise.
