How hard is it to understand, "Miles' offense" isn't the problem. Having a QB is

This misnomer has been driving me up a wall.
05-07 - Jamarcus and Flynn
10 - Junior Lee/Jefferson (not great offensive year, but 11 win season)
11 - Senior Lee/Jefferson
13 - Senior Mettenberger
Do you want to know why we run the ball so much with a supposed "archaic offense" in those other years?
08- First time starting and Inexperienced Lee
09 - First time starting and Inexperienced Jefferson
12 - First time starting and Inexperienced Mettenberger
14 - First time starting and Inexperienced Jennings
15 - First time starting and Inexperienced Harris
You see the trend? It's plain and simple. When Miles doesn't have an experienced quarterback who can make accurate throws to keep the offense moving, he will ALWAYS lean on his usually strong run game. You can call it stuck in the past or whatever you want, but he has proven again and again that he is willing to let his QB loose when they can make plays.
If there's a criticism at all, it's that we haven't gotten those QBs more playing time to get them ready. I.e. Not letting Harris finish out the year last season to prepare him better for this year. QB recruits not panning out, not making it to campus, or even getting kicked off the team have all contributed to this string of regularly having first time starters, but in the end it's on the staff to get them ready.
TL;DR - Keeping Miles was the right thing to do, at least for one more year. He finally has an experienced returning QB, (HB, and WRS) with an offense that should be greatly improved along with a lot of returning starters and what should be the #1 recruiting class coming in. If we fall flat again, there will be no excuses.

That is true Rex, but Miles is accountable for the players he recruits at Quarterback and he has failed miserably at that position.

Those QBs play so poorly because he can't develop them worth a shite and he will not stop handcuffing the offense and leave it alone to a competent OC.

Well, this sure sounds familiar...

We had seven games to start the season to work on short timing throws that seem so routine among most college football programs. We chose not to.

Cam Cameron needs to throw his Air Coryell playbook into a garbage can, light it on fire, and then pee on the ashes.

You don't know what "misnomer" means.
The word you are looking for is misconception.

Rex, you're still a frickin idiot. I would explain it to you, but experience tells me it's a waist of time.

So explain why he hasnt prepared any of his recent QBs to play at a high level. Explain why he can't tailor his scheme of offense around the skill set of his QB to maximize their talent or make them comfortable in the offense. Why after 2 or 3 coordinators our offense looks the same? Why can't we adjust mid game when things aren't going well?

Maybe it was bad for Harris to go to that qb guru camp.

you realize that you're saying that in order for a qb to be proficient, not good, but just decent enough to be trusted with complex tasks like slants and posts, they require multiple full seasons as a starting qb.
do you watch any other college football? There are now a laundry list of programs that are plugging in virtually unrecruited second and third string qb's and the offense for the team remains damn near the same.

So, Miles has to have an NFL qb to have an effective offense!

How do other teams do at qb compared to LSU? Why is LSU consistently in the bottom 1/3 of passing? The Les Miles offense is broke, but we don't want to be mean spirited so we got him for another 5 years.
Don't you dare mention coaching change next year. It ain't happening. Miles holds all the cards now.

Miles offense is the problem. If he wants Harris to do well then Les has to build the offense around him. This does not have to take carries away from the run game. It does need to give our QB the chance to make the throws he can make and be taught to make. As a coach, you work toward the strengths of your players.
Look around at all the other universities. They adapt and put in wrinkles based on their players. They do not force something on a player that can't get it.

What makes you think we will have the #1 class? We just lost the most important piece to the future of this program

His system is terrible. LSU runs elementary pass routes. If you focus on the receivers you will notice they are rarely open. Their is a reason we can't recruit qb's. We don't develop them. Harris was the #2 dual qb in the country. He would have developed with a more wide open passing game. I can't believe you are blaming this offensive fiasco on the qb. Notice the offensive penalties we have each game. Our off. isn't designed to overcome penalties. We throw an average of 3 passes a game on first down. No qb will have success with 3rd and long. Believe me, it's the system. Each year our offense regresses at the end of the season. Coaches are so good in the sec, they can pick up tendencies. We can only move the ball against teams with less talent. We don't have a plan B against teams who can stop the run.

This makes complete sense. It's not miles fault.
It's the dean of students fault for recruiting and developing these players.

Once Harris was named as the starter, it instantly meant that 2014 was a wasted year playing Jennings. That was a year of development thrown away and getting nothing in return.

I see freshman and sophomore QB's every Saturday making plays and throwing the ball for other teams, often against us. We even have lesser teams with QB's no one has ever heard of put up points and yards on our so called vaunted LSU defense every year .
I'm not buying the inexperience argument. It's a cop out and an excuse machine for the Miles contingent and the man himself to run a no risk offense, this is what he prefers.

I wish everyone could hear Booger McFarlands take after the game last night.
Essentially he said that in order to perform at any position, half the battle is confidence. As a player, you know when your coaches entrust that confidence in you to perform and thus you perform better. Miles' philosophy on offense is inherently distrustful of the quarterback position from the get go, so they never get a chance to build that confidence to perform.
