This was kick the can down the road. It's going to be more of a pain the longer you let it go. Sure it would be a pain now but it's only going to get worse the further the can gets kicked.
I have no faith in the AD fixing it and I assume some others as well. The only way to impact him is vote with your dollars. As long as expansions fill up and sets records on a regular basis nothing will change even with 4 wins a season.

IMO before the past two days we had Jimbo locked in and secure and then within the last 48 hours he backed out and said he wasn't coming; therefore, leaving no choice but to keep miles as HC.

Has Jimbo Fisher released any kind of statement that clearly states that he isn't coming?
I think that we're being too pessimistic about this. Just because one guy says that Les Miles is the coach doesn't mean it to be true.

The rumor is that Jimbo backed out but nobody really know until he comes out and says it.

I like Les. Admittedly, I was content to see him go but I'm glad he's staying. I just wish there were a way to get rid Of the Athletic Director we currently have.
On a side note, it was fun watching the talking heads on TV all day as if they were citing obituaries

Jimbo could be a liar, I dunno

Fournette was miles recruit and project, he wants to see it through, as opposed to disrupting it and spending a ton of money to overhaul the system. I understand where they're comin from and we have like 10 returning starters as juniors plus Bama at home

Why does everyone insist on starting their own thread about this when there is a stickied thread already? Going back about 11 pages are threads started this morning about the same thing.

When that guy is the AD, and he says it as emphatically as he did, you can pretty much say it's accurate. Now if Miles eases up on his "my way or the highway" attitude w/r/t the offense, we might get somewhere.

quote:There is nothing redeeming about this event. It shows that LSU has a disconnected AD and an alumni association that acts like a bunch disgruntled children. None of this should have been made public until after the season.... Actually, after the bowl.
This event though sad and poorly thought out may have achieved a great deal for LSU and our fan base.
quote:People across the country saw how screwed up the administration is. The one redeeming thing is how mature Les was in handling it. I have to commend Les on taking the high road.
1. Because of this event, people and recruits across the country saw how much LSU's players, fans and national media really love and respect Les Miles. They saw how much Miles' loves his players, and he loves coaching at LSU. What people saw repeatedly on ESPN, was not the negatives regarding Les Miles but most of of the positives regarding Les Miles, and that Miles has a higher winning percentage than Saban at LSU. I doubt many knew that.
This issue here is that the program is on a slow downward spiral since the 2012 Championship loss. The "winning percentage" is dropping even though the recruiting is still high. Because of this event there will most likely have a negative impact on recruiting. Who wants to go to a school that is in turmoil??? So things could get worse.
quote:Your optimism is admirable but, this issue will not be settled until midway into next year's season. If Brandon Harris doesn't develop and the offense remains vanilla LSU will not win the SEC title and will not make the final four BCS tourney. Nearly every pass Harris threw last night was overthrown. One overthrown pass resulted in an interception. We can't continue running off-tackle plays with no confidence in the passing game.
2. Because of this event, the want to improve and the fight to achieve victory among LSU's players and coaches will be much stronger next year, more so than it's ever been at LSU. This event guaranteed that.
quote:You're living in a dream. As for the Juniors, I can't image an NFL prospect turning down a multi-million contract because they love Les and bleed purple and gold. Get real!
3. Because of this event, I doubt we see as many LSU juniors leaving for the pros as we have seen in the past, too many will want to stay and ensure victory for their beloved coach Les Miles next year. If you saw what I saw, you saw players who will not allow their coach to removed next year. They will be stronger next year and much harder to beat.
quote:I don't believe he has ever taken his job for granted. The rumblings about some of his poor coaching decisions have been going on for years now. It's finally reached a head. I'm hoping Les see this event as a wakeup call and makes some serious changes to the system. Based on his past history I'm not optimistic.
4. We all at some point take the positives in our lives for granted, whether it's our wives or our jobs. Because of this event, Les Miles will no longer take his love of coaching at LSU for granted, I can guarantee you that, expect a much more serious Les Miles to address any issues that require changes.
The bottom line is that Les is an exceptional recruiter but, not an exceptional coach. The travesty of the 2012 BCS championship loss is a prime example. If he can't adjust his offense and develop the QB position for next year then he needs to go. If it means a shakeup in the coaching staff, so be it. If things don't improve AFTER next season then Les needs to go.
In my opinion, the only person that needs to be fired before next season is the AD Alleva. He could have ended this nonsense immediately by coming out in support of Les as soon as the rumors came out. After the Chavis incident and now this, it is obvious that Alleva has no character or is just stupid (possible both). He should be replaced TODAY.

LOLOLOLOL championships and Les Miles no longer belong in the same galaxy together... you don't have to worry about any championships next year bud... worry about that chicken bowl or maybe Belk bowl, or even the toy r us bowl

I am NO fan of Finebaum's but he was on College Football Live this morning & said that Alleva looked like the most miserable person alive during that press conference. As in he was not happy to be up there and having to say what he said bout CLM staying. With that pic of Alleva standing off to the side while CLM was talking showing that exact look was telling. Finebaum nailed it, for once. Alleva was not up there voluntarily.

Y not make Les Miles into Joe Patero and keep him for 40 years and LSU can win 8 games a year and all u Les LOVERS can say that he's won the most games Ever but still Only 1 National Title and 2 SEC Titles!!! Face the facts, the last three seasons the Tigers have been in a steady decline, as far as wins and loses go, we're below .500 in SEC West over that period and barely above .500 overall in the SEC. What that means is Mississippi St, Ole Miss, Auburn, BAMA have as good or BETTER records than LSU over the last 3 years OR,(since we lost, NO, got embarrassed by BAMA in the National Title!!!) Les+LSUFootballLately=LOSSES

Go back and look at Alleva giving his "speech." That is the look of a man that just had his head handed to him. And he will have to talk about it in a positive light for a LOONG time.....his own personal hell.......
