A smokescreen for what though? Keeping Les? Hiring some risky inexperienced or unproven coach? Unless they're getting a Sean Payton or at least a Nick Saban, a phony "Jimbo to LSU" narrative wouldn't make sense.

My source couldnt confirm who had the leak but did say it was assumed thay the AD thought the article would build some media attention in justifying firing Miles, others speculating including the boosters and Miles Freudian slip and ESPN is what caused a diversion ploy immediately afterwards to quiet down the chatter, this also is why Alleva did not address it and rather had the SID continue the damage control/diversion

Jimbo is likely a done deal it appears but all the media attention made the boosters worry about another Saban to Texas fiasco so they put out false reports that stated the deal with Jimbo fell through.

David L. says there was communication as late as Tuesday of Les staying along with Coach O, Steele, Frank and Cory. rest of the staff out. Those talks stalled.

ESPN cited UF boards on Jimbo's ex banging Jacobs. Of course there is a staffer or intern scouring FB, TD, Twitter, etc looking for info.
Doesn't mean it won't be vetted before aired, that's why they always have the simple narrative initially. You have to be kidding yourself if you don't think some facet of local or national media isn't filtering though this. Easily your posts and mine will be ignored.

Love the term "could" wtf is that, we are firing a top tier coach on a "could"...better damn well be a "will"...this sounds more and more like we are just going to look for the best available once we fire Les, instead of having a pen in Jimbos hand at that exact moment.
