This quote is from Teddy Roosevelt.

I doubt you knew that.

It certainly applies to him, as a republican who stood against Big Business and monopolies, as a "trust buster."

The republican right and tea-party wackos would hate TR.

However ...

quote:

It is not the critic who counts

This does not apply to Les Miles.

When his "critics" are paying him four million dollars a year to win football games and keep a top program on top and he doesn't do it--then his critics count significantly.

Sorry. That's just the way the ball bounces. Another shallow and idiotic misapplication by the Miles brigade. Another stupid attempt at bashing LSU fans who want the best for their program--including the TAF bigwigs who pay the bills.

He's a football coach who was paid handsomely and wasn't getting the job done. He'll be paid a cool 15 million for walking away and believe me, he doesn't give a shite about you or Teddy Roosevelt quotes.

But hey ... have a GREAT day.

It most certainly does wheb you have a lot of dumbass armchair coaches on here talking about what Miles should have done during a game. People that haven't coached 1 down of peeler football yet presume any dumbass can lead lsu to victory. The quote fits. Deal with it.

Another stupid attempt at bashing LSU fans who want the best for their program--

You nor the board know what's best for the program. Any coach they hire is only presumed to be a better man for lsu. In pretty sure whomever we hire won't have one of the best win % in sec history and the #1 ooc win % in sec. He probably won't give lsu it's mostsuccessful 10 year stretch ever. I believe it's time for a change but let's not act like the next hire is, for sure, gonna have better results than Miles.

I think Miles probably needs to go. But I think what the OP is alluding to from this quote is not the TAF or BOS, but all the arm chair critics and fans who in their lives have not sniffed the type of competition or had to make the types of decisions that someone in Miles arena or the players on the field have. I'm not positive of course where he was going with that but the players and Miles are not above criticism, but I think the point of what Roosevelt meant is that there will always be doubters and someone who knows they can do better. The way to not doubt yourself is believe in your convictions and stand by them. However if you can't learn from the critics who are on your level and know as much as you do or more (such as maybe your OC) then you stagnate and can not reach for higher goals.
