But, the problem is he would wait until the end of the year, especially if there is any hope of playoffs. This is why the Harbaugh thing was so difficult last year. Michigan may have thought they had things locked up behind the scenes, but even with that SF trainwreck, Harbaugh had to say he wanted to be there and you never knew if Oakland or Jerrah or somebody was going to come in with $10 million and franchise control. Guys like Schefter were saying until the very end that he wasn't going to college. The only way that Chip ends up in college is if he gets fired in the next couple of weeks IMO, although USC might have the patience to wait.

I'm a Raider fan, and I can tell you - Oakland absolutely offered Harbaugh a ton of money, but Harbaugh wanted to coach at Michigan. I suspect Kelly will want to go back to college football.

I've repeatedly heard that USC doesn't like Chip Kelly and doesn't want Chip Kelly.

I hear it often enough and from varied enough places, both public and private, to assume there might be some merit to it.

People tend to forget that Chip Kelly was banned from NCAA coaching for 18 months because of recruiting violations while at Oregon. It's possible he never wanted to leave college, and it's possible he'd like to return.

I guess we'll see, but I suspect Chip Kelly is more realistic for LSU than Jimbo Fisher.
