Not sure how I feel about this.
He's in our top 3 and has been since Spurs left, so I guess that's a positive.
A lot of our fan base actually preferred Smart to Herman so hopefully he turns out to be a good hire should it happen.
I have coaching search whiplash from all of this back and forth.

Kirby Smart or Tom Herman would both be solid hires.

Wow thought Herman was the frontrunner

Could be.
There's been a lot of smoke around Herman, but Smart has always lingered there as well.

Europe = Final Countdown
SCar = up and comers
It's what you do
Actually your MO has been old timers, so this is a departure
RR would get it done
If Jimbo to LSU, RR may get a look from FSU. Maybe Leach

Kirby Smart will be a failure as a head coach just like Dooley and Muschamp before him.

Muschamp succeeded defensively. He just failed on the offense and had no continuity with OCs (Charlie Weis - wtf?).

but wasn't Herman offered?
Rumored that he was.
Also rumored that he is still coming to interview with Tanner.

So Saban told him to find a job cause he is on his way out, right, right?
SABAN TO LSU
SABAN TO LSU

Yap
USCe would have done well

Good. I want Herman to be available as our back up plan which we will very likely need.

Mistake for USC. Smart will want the BBD if he has early success at USC and CERTAINLY will bolt if and when the UGA job opens in the future.

He's not welcome at UGA so his job at USCe is safe.

Maybe with time he will be but he burned some bridges when he turned down the DC job several years before. I don't blame him but that is the word around the water cooler.

It's the same risk with Herman and Tejas. There is no way to ensure that a coach is willing to stay somewhere long-term.
Hell, it sounds like Fisher is willing to leave FSU after winning a natty just a few years ago. Frank Martin took the USC job just a few years removed from an Elite 8.
Coaches move around a lot. None of them belongs to a particular school.
