I think Jimbo can save this class, also I hate not making a change because of high school kids. we can't let recruiting classes hold us hostage, we aren't mizzou.

The real key could be holding on to bebe to keep this thing together, or wilson

I don't think any TigerRant experts really know.

Really need Oregeron the most considering the shear amount of d tackles that have committed to LSU or at least have us in their top 3. This could be a filthy d line class.

that transfer from Purdue was a top 10 qb in his class

we have the talent on the dline.. we did so well stopping the run early on in the season.. but against physical teams we sure wore out quick... especially in the 2nd half

The guy couldn't play at Purdue. He's not the answer.

If we stopped the run early, it was because our schedule was frontloaded with poor teams. November is our measuring stick and tells us all we need to know.

No. There is very little true quality/depth in the front 7. Now if we pull some of these recruits that can change

Les has had championship talent for a while now and well...

So have 8-12 other teams.... and well.......

The fanbase role reversal will be great, actually. The former 'negas' will say that the next guy should be given time to get his talent in while the pro-Miles faction will be less than tolerant with patience and losses. It'll be quite the sight on this site.

Talent wise, I've heard that we are not talented as we think we are, so the next guy is kinda screwed, no?

Your analysis is so high level that it is worthless.

LSU has a ton of talent...but is missing talent and depth in the front 7. That is being addressed already (partially. It can't be completely fixed in 1 year).

Beyond that, LSU has enough talent to win a championship. No coach was winning a championship with our front 7 this year.

Maybe. I think the right coach can fix the offense and make up for some of the defensive problems.

But, I don't know if even a really good DC can fix the depth issues on the DL and at LB.

Are we already lining up excuses for the next guy?

No, just acknowledging the reality that there are major holes in the defense (largely due to poor recruiting in that area by Les) that will be even worse next year.

I think our starting DL and DBs will be fine. LB, especially if Beckwith leaves, will be as weak as we've seen in years. And, after the first 4, we don't have much of anything at DL.

If you think this in any way similar to what Saban left Miles, you're dreaming.

Hmm, are you saying Saban underachieved with the 9-3 team he left behind?

He left behind a locomotive that lasted for 10 years. The Engineer let the fire go out. Do you really think Miles could take Dinardo's shambles and go NC in 3 years? Do you really think that?

He just brought in two top 5 classes and we're likely to land another one coming up unless it completely scatters

Yes he's brought in top 5 classes. But they are top 5 classes because of highly rated skill position players and DBs.

Our weakness is DL depth and LB. 2 areas that have been complete busts the last few recruiting classes. That's going to be an issue for whoever the coach next year is.

Maybe. The biggest worry IMO is the lack of linebacker depth. (Thanks, Chavis.) As for QB, I think you'll see a marked improvement in Harris w/ competent offensive coaching.
