I don't see the NBA talent in Blakeney. He takes some poor shots. He may hit them in other games, but that still doesn't make them good shots to take. I don't see how he is nearly good enough to be a "one and done."

Coach Jones clearly can't coach a center very well. Individual talent development maybe, but utilizing one in a game plan, no. He is probably best with a mix of big guards and small forwards like he had at North Texas. That way the combination on the floor doesn't matter as much as they are all fairly interchangeable parts.

Simmons is obviously an NBA talent. Sampson impressed me. He seemed to just work harder than most.

For those who are saying "Wait for Victor", shouldn't Ben Simmons and the rest of the team be good enough to beat Marquette?

Blakeney had good looks. They just didn't go down. Quaterman actually took a lot of "bad shots". The difference is that he hit them.. It's one game. Blakeney is going to hit those looks more often than his misses them.

LSU doesn't have a reliable Center. Malone is a net-negative on the court and Robinson is just too slow to be dominant right now. I'm not necessarily going to put that on Jones's coaching. They are playing now only because Victor is still ineligible.

Anyone who watches college basketball knew Marquette wasn't as "bad" as the novice fan thought they were. Plus, those guys came in with a big chip on their shoulder. You knew LSU was going to get their best effort and their strength (inside play) was LSU's weakness. If LSU knocks downs 4 more 3 pointers this is probably a 6-10 point win when it's all said and done. They didn't. That's what happens when you're a team that relies on the outside shot. Some nights they just aren't going to fall.
