re: Have you ever seen the USMNT playing this flat and boring?

Orozco or Ream also as an outside back.
Big time fan of this fullback pairing, tbh.

The difference between now and before is that now we don't have Landon Donovan and a prime Clint Dempsey. Two attacking players who were good enough to start and make an impact in top flight European leagues.
I think it is one of the reasons we are being and flat. Do I think that is all we need to be competitive? Hell no.
We need some consistent outside backs. I feel like we have 1 sure fire winger in Johnson. We need another one. I hope Wood and his consistency continues because Jozy is the opposite of Consistant. We need to figure out if Cameron is going to play CB in 2018. If not he could be a valuable asset at CDM or RB. We have a lot of problems and every game asks more questions than it answers.

Consistency would be nice. Especially if that involves consistently playing players in their natural positions.

Dead give away for those that have never stepped foot on a soccer field.
Sure, some guys, and positions, are more specialized than others, but almost all of these professional players have spent their entire lives playing all over the place.

I'm curious as to why the Orozco/Ream fullback pairing is garnering down-votes? I think Orozco just put in the best RFB shift since Fabian was playing there in the WC.
Those two provide the defensive stability that our team has been severely lacking. Do you lose a little bit going forward, of course. It's certainly better than having to watch DeAndre Yedlin get caught out of position 7 or 8 times a game.

...until they turn pro (and a lot of times well before that). This isn't U-14s anymore. These guys for years have been training day in and day out at that position. Sure they have the athletic and technical ability fill in elsewhere but they play a certain position for a reason - it's their best.
If Yedlin trains every single day with his club as a RB, then to me it is fricking retarded to take him one week at a time for a few times per year and put him at RM and expect him to perform well. Same goes when we tried to shoehorn others into other positions.

I'm reciprocating.

lol, what?? Of the 11 starting against T&T, let's list the guys who have spent extended periods in multiple positions, professionally.
Bradley, Jones, Orozco, Ream, Zardes, Cameron, Johnson.

Me suggesting we should play our national team players in their natural positions is an indication that I've never stepped foot on a soccer field?
Good job trying to discount my opinion based on assumptions while knowing nothing about me. Not a great way to get people to take your side. Try being less of an a-hole maybe, but if this thread is evidence I would say you might struggle with that.

Played or watched. One of the two, yes.
You want to argue the importance of consistency within a team, I'm all on board. "Natural positions," lol.

Probably because you're a tool and most people don't like you or take what you have to say seriously.

I have ostracized the FIFA generation, not good.

My question is do y'all really think he doesn't know it would be better to play, for example, Danny Williams at 6 instead of on the wing against Jamaica a few years ago?
It doesn't take a soccer genius to know that ideally you would have everyone playing in their best position.
Clearly Klinsmann does that because he thinks it's a better option than whoever else is available to play that position in the player pool. He thinks our wing options suck, so he tries different good (or high potential in his opinion) players there hoping they can make a difference playing out of position.
You can disagree with his choices without acting like you don't understand what he's trying to do.
Do y'all really think he would play people out of position if he thought there were better people available?
If your answer to this post is that you fully understand what's going on, my response is that it's very hard to tell, given how the same argument is made over and over every time anyone discusses the national team.

You've posted a lot of garbage the last couple of days all the while being a condescending prick doing so.
And your FIFA generation meme is dumb and already tiresome.

I'm just fed up with the negativitey and blatant ignorance, Lucky Tiger.
That's all.
That's all.

It seems to me (don't know is this is good or bad) that the only way Bradley will not be our CAM is if a better person comes along (nagbe, zelalem, etc.). I would hope this would force bradley back deeper in the midfield.
I dislike Jozy, but he is capable of terrorizing CANCACAF teams and would benefit from a better midfield.

Well fine.
Get it off your chest, got it off my chest.
Let's have a beer.

Did you miss the first round of qualifying last cycle? Or practically every cycle?

The problem with this is that a lot do think there are better people available that don't get called in - but that is a separate argument we have had a lot on here
I get what you're trying to say. But when we line up in a 4-2-3-1 like we have in the past and Bradley is at the 10 and Mix is playing CDM, it just makes you question WTF is going on out there
