LSU's offensive issues aren't simply about running an i-formation power game versus a spread game. The issues for LSU isn't even entirely on the limited number of plays they run. It's the predictability in how they run it.

You don't have to revamp an offense entirely to make it functional. I like LSU running a pro-style offense. Hell Bama won it's recent 3 NCs running pro-style offenses, not spreads. Last year they ran a spread/pro-style mix and while they won the SEC, it was inconsistent offense that doomed them.

The problem with Les is he thinks his team will impose its will on the opponent, no matter who they are, and that even if they know what is coming it won't matter. The fact is that if they mix things up in playcalling with a few creative wrinkles thrown in here and there, the offense would work extremely well.

Instead though, they run the same predictable offense with at most 2 options coming out of a specific formation making it extremely easy to defend. There in lies LSU's issues under Les and why Bama has been so dominant against them. No creativity in playcalling. When the options are only fades/fly patters or runs, the it is pretty easy to figure out.
