CC permit

Recently took the course. I am very surprised how limited the training is for someone to get a permit. Even after ten years in the Army and all the basic rifle marksmanship training in basic training (which by the way is excellent training) and yearly qualifications I still had to take the "training class" to carry. A few people in my one day CC "training class" and had never fired a gun and could could not put a tight shot group at six feet can now apply for a CC permit. I believe in the right to bear arms but responsibly. What say you?

the shooting "test" is a joke, no question

Hijack: Once you are done with the class and send in your paperwork to the state police, how long does it take to process and send your license?

The training is limited for sure but I still don't think it should be necessary and I think we're moving closer towards constitutional carry each year.
1. One day of lethal force law training is not nearly enough training to make you a proficient shooter or concealed carrier. But most people think a concealed carry class is a defensive pistol course. It isn't.
2. Only about 10% of those who take a concealed carry class will actually carry on a regular basis.
3. Unless someone takes it upon his or her self to get real defensive handgun training, he or she will likely not practice often.
4. Those who carry regularly will do so responsibly and seek out proper training regardless of a permitting system.
5. Like any other permitting system, it is run by people and people are fallible. Some who don't need to get denied might and some who should be denied won't be.
But this is all simply my opinion.

It is pretty easy for anyone who has fired a pistol before. I always strongly suggest people take extra classes
It took me a really long time to get my permit. The Sgt that does it was made aware of my inflammatory posts here, called me on the phone, and chewed me out about them
Then I got my permit within a week

You don't even have to take a class in Alabama. I walked in to the sheriff's office and walked out with my CC in 10 minutes.
