Comparing same size.
My concern is the flare-ups of the Weber.
Which would you choose?
What are the feelings of the F&DB?

Never buy a char broil unless you want to buy another in 3 years

Flare ups? With the Weber? No worries there. My vote cances out Paul Allen's.

My feeling is that we aren't comparing apples to apples here. If you need the infrared, then let's compare equals. If you just need a gas grill and don't mind the cost for better quality well, you have your decision. If you place some value on the infrared, then you'll be buying a grill that probably doesn't do either well nor for very long. Bottom line, Weber is a better gas grill with no frills and Char-Broil has fluff but no longevity. Decide what's best for you, no shame in either...

I just got the CB TRU Infrared 3n1 Roaster, Smoker, grill for $102 from target on sale. Too good to pass up. Only cooked one chicken so far but it came out awesome. Longevity issues are a concern, but I also bought the $15 custom cover and don't expect to get more than 3 to 5 years out of it.
ETA: the CB I have is very well made from all appearances. Super sturdy, feels solid and retains heat well. You can usually find the setup I got for $150 online, I just happened to catch target on a 40% sale and scored it for $102. I'm sure if you keep it covered and out of the elements that it'll last just fine. If you leave it out in the rain and weather, then I agree I wouldn't expect it to last that long.
