Things I've Noticed Since Moving Back To Texas After 25 Years In Louisiana

Well, Houston, which I'm not certain if it really is Texas or the United Nations. There is definitely a lack of football passion in this otherwise great city. When it comes to Pro sports it is a whole different matter. But even those fans are weird compared to Saints passion.
I'll temper that by saying that aggy and UT are down so maybe that is why or maybe they don't play each other anymore so who knows.
Houston Cougars are having a good year but you'd never know it by office chat or Houston papers. They've been lucky to draw 18k fans to a game.
I've yet to meet a TCU fan and the few Baylor fans I have bumped into think they are #1. I tell them yes, in OOC scheduling of cupcakes.
Actually there are probably more OSU and OU fans in Houston than either TCU or Baylor and they have more passion than the Texas school's fan base combined. After UT upset OU there was much discussion but before the game hardly any interest.
I truly miss the passion of LSU fans, hell even ULL. Going to a game in Austin is like going to a PGA event and the game last year at aggy was just ok. It was a clown show of epic proportions. Everything said on Tiger Rant about aggy is true unless it is posted by aggy.

Not a smart argument for an LSU fan this year...

Houston is bananas about football, they talk about the shite all year round on sports radio. Even with good basketball and baseball teams.

Bruh, Houston is the 4th largest city in the US. Trying to measure the enthusiasm of that many people is crazy. Football is king in Texas, just like Louisiana. It's just the sheer size of Houston that makes it different.

I'm in Miami, so I know how you feel. I've truly been spoiled with Tiger Stadium

Houston and Dallas are very cosmopolitan. You get a ton of transplants, and thus there is no single team to unify the masses. Sure, you have large fan bases of the major pro teams, but many people still prefer their team from "back home."
The lack of a consistently good college football team in either city also allows newcomers to hold on to old ties. Furthermore, the Texas 10% rule creates a lot of misplaced fans as many kids can't get in at their favorite school.

Probably the most accurate description.
There's a big Houston Texan contingent on the East side, but there's a pretty large mix of fans of other teams elsewhere in the city.
UT fans have been super quiet the past 5 years or so, for obvious reasons. Aggies will still talk if given the chance, but it's mostly bullshite that makes no sense.
I live in Katy and, other than the guys I went to LSU with, there's barely anyone here to truly discuss college ball with.

There are a lot of us in Houston area and our alumni party will be packed on Saturday.
I was at the UH vs Vandy game Saturday and there were 29,000 there in a steady rain. If dry, there would have been 45,000. But overall Houston people don't support UH or Rice unless they get on a roll and then it's usually out of curiosity

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Well LSU also plays in the toughest division in all of College Football and Baylor plays in the Big 12 where the defenses are absolutely horrendous. I think LSU can afford to play a couple cupcakes and on the road at another Power 5 team.

Been to Cougars game this year! great fans and atmosphere. Houston has a lot to offer sports wise; unlike in Baton Rouge where it's only LSU. no comparison. Plus the alumni base in Houston supports tremendously

I was at the UH vs ULL baseball series. ULL had more fans at the game then UH in their own stadium.
There was a story in the Chronicle last week that UH fans don't support the program and if they don't they will lose the coach. It's a stepping stone school.

Yes.
Also, they rape farm animals.

College Football really dominates public attention in states and cities that don't have professional sports teams to take their attention away. I have family in Houston and while they aren't the most avid CFB fans they buy season tickets to Texans games every year. I'm sure the Rockets and Astros and whatever NHL team is in Houston (assuming there is one) also gets a great deal of attention from fans. If you think about it most of the most popular college teams are in smaller cities or smaller very rural states that don't have much else (Baton Rouge, the State of Alabama, Columbus Ohio, Ann Arbor Michigan, Nebraska, Gainesville Florida). I know a lot of people from New York and Chicago who never watch college football and are shocked people down here care about it so much.
