Harris running is our secret weapon. And Fournett will throw a pass.

Did you really just compare Harris to Cam? Seriously?

I have SOME doubt... you know, based on prior performances.

I'm sure.

I wonder if we'll see more of the wingbone that we ran on the goal line against South Carolina. It probably wasn't a true wingbone formation, but the motion we ran gives us a few options for sure. I'd imagine there are a few play calls that can be used in that formation for short-yardage situations.

Miles has shown that he's more than willing to mix things up in short-yardage situations, particularly in big games. I remember being in the stadium in 2010 against Bama when we ran the TE reverse on 4th and 1. I believe it was 2010 at least.

I said in another thread that Harris will have his highest rushing total of the season and look for the right ends to be involved more. This game is gonna be decided by special teams. If keehn can win us field position battle then that is how the game will be decided. If special teams makes a blunder that could be the game

So Harris is going to have his highest rushing total of the season against the beat run defense in the SEC? Interesting prediction.

In the off week, I hope Steel works on defending the swing pass. So far in the last couple years we have sucked at it. What about 2 years ago against bama . They won with a swing pass to the back & he ran it in. We didn't do so well against W. Ky last week.

There's a few plays I think we will see, option and jet sweep being 2 of them.

I'd like to see Fournette under center with Guice in the backfield for the option. Have fun defending that combo.

I work with an Alabama fan and hes been telling me that if we dont run the option our coach is an idiot because it will surely work. id like to see some more read option too. Harris is gonna have to use his legs a good bit for us to get this victory.

but if we're forced to run laterally then that could mean trouble.

The area of Bama's run D that has looked he most susceptible (not to say that it's a glaring weakness) is the outside. Ole Miss and UGA didn't have any consistent success against them between the tackles, but OM hurt them a few times with quick edge runs. I would bet the staff will use some outside runs, zone reads, jet sweeps, and options, along with he passing game, to free up some room for Fournette in the middle.

If we expect it, will Saban not be prepared for it?

I hope we don't try that fullback blast on every short yardage situation. In the last 2 games we've used it in all but one short yardage situation. It's mostly worked until now but they'll probably be sitting on it.

If you watch those plays, Harris and Fournette usually start to trail off in an option look after the handoff. So far, I think the ball has gone to Williams up the middle every time. I would bet we see the triple option fake and Harris and LF running the option along the LOS at least once in the game. Cam's been setting that up all season.

I think we will see more formations with Fournette and Guice on the field at the same time.....at least I would hope so. Spread them out with either Guice or Fournette split out in space one on one against a LB. Make the LB cover and pull one out of the box to open the running lanes.

One good thing about Harris running is that he is very pragmatic and safe about it. He gets what he can, and either gets down fast or gets out of bounds. He's been very smart about not taking chances or unnecessary hits.

I don't think it's dumb. In the comparison LF is Cam, not Harris. Remember what Cam and Dyer did to LSU in 2010? Cam was the bigger threat but Dyer burned us too because we had to account for Cam. Clearly LF is the bigger threat so there will be opportunities for Harris if he makes the right reads.

As I said, I'm not saying we won't see it. But the speed of Alabamas front 7 will make it difficult to have any success running outside if we don't first establish our smash mouth brand of football.

No. Auburn was only able to do it because they had a runaway freight train that was made of steel.
