In a sport that has a 9 point play, you're right.

Hypothetical:
Team A trails team B by 6 with 0:10 left at the 5 yard line. Team A attempts to pass, and Team B defender throws the receiver to the ground in obvious Pass Interference, intercepts the ball, and returns it for a touchdown, leading to a 12 point victory. There is no flag on the play.

Did the absence of the flag affect the outcome of the game?

You left this out of your post, but it is included in the link. I hope the SOB is the ref for the Bama game.

Hmm. Now that is unexpected. Ritter hammers LSU in every game EXCEPT the Alabama game. Even more interesting, the penalty margin isn't helping all that much. LSU is 6-1 in games Ritter officiated since 2012, and the one game the Tigers lost, they held the edge in penalties.

9-point loss. Refs didn't give Bama 9 points.

I'm not in the Ref-Conspiracy camp. But, this is a dumb argument. IF the ref were to makes a call that results in only a field goal.....do you not recognize the effect on play calling in the fourth quarter when one is down by one score vs two?

Especially LSU of last year. Need to score one TD? Run normal offense.

Need to get TWO scores? Not likely at all

Again, I am not raising hell about Ritter. But, the "9 points" is silliness

It's hard to sacrifice something you don't possess in the first place. The SEC still suffers from that old South corruption that the whole nation knows and loves. Football is bigger than religion down here.

Yeah - we definitely got outplayed in 2009 and 2014.
Are you making my argument for me.

in 2009 we got outgained almost 2 to 1 and lost every statistical category. And we had 4 total penalties against us for 43 yards.

In 2014 we only had 259 yards to their 315, and we had a grand total of 2 penalties called on us. Bama had more.

Now, why were you rolling your eyes.

You need to stick with Pittsburg dude. You just lost your Cenla license! If you can't figure out Ritter's bias by now, you're just trolling. GTFO!!!!!

In 2002 they beat us 31 to fricking zip. They outgained us 477 yards to 196. So you think the refs gave em a 31 point swing. We were penalized for 77 yards, and Bama 75 yards.
What is that 15.5 points per yard?

And we won a sloppy game in 2004, do you suggest we reverse that decision. Oh, in that game Bama was penalized 7 times, we were flagged TWICE.

It is when a flag appears. Like on the goal line and a fathom personal foul is called.

It isn't just about penalties called and rate.

See 2009 with the interception.

See last year with the Personal Foul call where LSU had the penalty advantage, the 2 missed PI's in the endzone, and the missed illegal shift on Bama's big OT play

Are you honestly arguing that LSU was outplayed last season?

Wasn't a game changing penalty or anything

Yeah I was at that game. It clearly refutes any sort of suggestion that Saban is some kind of coaching G-d. He is very good at what he does, but he's gotten fortunate with opportunities. Poor, dumb Les Miles never gets blown out like this (at home, no less) or loses to the UABs or ULMs of the world.

All of this is pretty egregious and obvious, IMHO. The timing of those calls in a close game puts the outcome overwhelmingly in the hands of the officials. And it was clear they were trying to protect Bama's shot at the playoffs.

Why do I feel like we won't get similar protection? (And I don't want it - I want a fairly called game, playoffs be damned).

Amen brother. We just have to forget about the refs regardless of what they throw at us and overcome the situation. This team is ready and willing to take on both Bama and the refs. We will play our game at such a high level that we will overcome the odds and beat them both.
