LSU Football nicknames/ etymology / "Buga"

The cheesiest nicknames come from Athletic Dept. media types. Things like "Ruston Rifle", to use an old example. Usually awful.
The best are home grown:
For example "Booger" McFarland. And "Honey Badger" seemed to develop on this very site.
Where does the nickname or term "Buga" come from and what, if anything does it mean?
Is it from his family?
Just curious...

Fournette himself came up with that nickname apparently. But I don't think it's a personal nickname as much as it is a slogan of sorts. The term itself is a shortened version of the phrase "Buga No Suga" which Fournette says means "Real not Fake". LINK
Therefore I'm guessing Buga means "Real". Fournette's close friend and former teammate Jermaine Roberts also uses the term Buga frequently, which also gives evidence to it not being Fournette's personal nickname (Robert's twitter handle is @Buga_2).

I feel as if this is pretty fitting. He is from So-Bo (South Bossier) and I feel like that's where the majority of "baws" in Bossier City come from.

thought that came from his team mates. Then this forum got wind of it and started using it.

I'm pretty certain TD created that. Not sure who though

His mom did.

It is an acronym (see above).

It has become both.

Where is your evidence to prove this?

Once again are you getting this from fans or from Fournette himself? I included a link where Fournette himself said what "Buga no Suga" meant. Pointing out some random commenter who says it stands for an acronym means nothing.

It is with 100% certainty that the poster mike linebacker was the sole originator of Honey Badger.

I wish I were him. He's the most under the radar legend of LSU Athletics

Dodd's evidence is pretty convincing on the HB.
The whole Buga thinks sounds a bit unsettled, with more than one understanding.

I could have sworn that in an interview, TM said that Chavis gave him the nickname and the team picked it up. I could be wrong, but this is what I seem to remember.
