D2 has a series of committees that rank teams in regions. Then top teams in regions are matched by predetermined draw into the bracket. At least that is how I understood it to be. It may be completely wrong.

He was in elementary school when I was in Iraq and his footnotes on letters to me would fill me in on how his peewee football games were going. So to see him on a team ranked #1 on a national level, regardless of conference or size of program... Well it's a proud big bro moment
