I'm really not trying to be a jerk, but can you not wait until a vet is open to make a call? Heartworms can be a really tricky thing. Can be nothing if you catch it early or it could be deadly.
I'm a sap when it comes to dogs, so I can't give a practical answer. But I bet a vet could put an actual number on it. That was my only point.

Take to vet and see. Won't really know how bad it is until they xray the dog.
It will be $500 or so BUT it's not all at once.
