From a person who has paid off over $2000 in OMV holds in my life. I'll tell you this, you will not be able to renew a vehicle or get a license with this hold.
I had the opposite of yours, a Texas hold made it to where I couldn't get a license renewed, so I just drove without a license. Finally paid that off. Then years later two cars I sold after Katrina (with the plates on them came back in the form of twin $525 flags on my licence. There used to be a cap of $500, now it's $900. So that was another $900.

These things will follow you forever.
