Well, they need matter to create these things, so still they would likely siphon stars and planets for the matter they need. Type 2 Civilizations require a mass supply of energy, and they've got to mine the material to make black holes and antimatter (which does not occur naturally).

Again, they need matter as we know it to do these things.

That's sort of my point. You're speaking in absolutes about what this particular set of species requires. That's all based on earth principles.

I feel like I'm not explaining myself well, which is often the case in this type of thread. But we have no idea what they are capable of or the kinds of things they'd have access to, and shite like that. Even based on our earth principles, for all we know they may have mastered things like energy and are focused on things far more advanced than that (things we can't even begin to acces or understand).

I agree. Saying that alien beings "likely" do anything is ridiculous. People project how they imagine humans might do something in the future onto what they think aliens are doing.

These beings could be based on anything and could exist in ways we can't imagine or comprehend. We have no idea.

This has always been my problem with our theories for life and things like Fermi's Paradox. We know so little about the universe, yet we assume life on earth is the basis for life elsewhere, from things like our basic needs (water, certain temperatures) to abstract concepts (motivations). I get that we are working with the only information available, but it seems awfully unwise to assume that they information is enough to make strong statements.
