it just depends on where you live. If you are zoned to Memorial, 281 schools or to lesser extent Lamer/Bellaire i can see the justification on going public.
The funniest thing looking back was all the wannabe gang bangers that went to schools like Bellaire. Private schools have a much shorter leash with kids, my old school even drug test now which would have had 80% of us kicked out.
