All of this only matters if you stay local for life. I will encourage my kids to relo with good companies, eventually finding where they want to stay.

I relo'd from BR in 2008, and my career skyrocketed due to that mobility. Now, after starting a family and settling down, I am much better off than I would have been in S. LA regardless of networking.
