so our D-Line is the main problem

I don't see how you sunshine pumpers can think we have a shot at a NC without a strong D-Line in the SEC. Even Eastern Michigan was blowing our boys off the line of scrimmage. The thing that sucks is that this isn't anything that can be fixed by coaching: it's the talent and depth that is lacking. The only way I see us winning an NC is if LF7 literally carries us through ala Cam Newton 2010.

Defensive line depth is an issue but the talent isn't. GFY

Gilmore stands up way to fast....Coach EdO needs to coach him to keep his pad level down (easy for me to say)

Welp time for basketball season then

there will be teams that make the playoff with a worse defense than ours.

If I were an admin on an LSU board and a "fan" used this to describe someone else during a season where we were 5-0, #5 in the country and featuring the greatest player in a generation, this phrase right here would get a poster perma-frickin-banned.

i dont think one game defines our line. sure, every team has their down games, but Neal has been very good with pass rushing and Godchaux has been solid. the back ups at DT have been good.
the run defense has been good. Pass rush started off hot but has cooled lately overall outside of Neal.
you'll see an increase in sack production against stiffer competition when Steele gets more creative with his scheme. its been very vanilla so far.
i think we'll be alright.

comments like this are usually reserved for the offense (at least in prior years). The whole 'holding things back' and 'playing vanilla' against weaker competition never really seemed to stick in the past, so I doubt this is the case.

This is an astute observation. I was just talking to O 5 min ago and brought up this point after reading your post.
He said he's been so busy working with the guys improving hand speed that he hadn't noticed that tendency. Also said he never reviews film or haedly even cares about technique!? I was like, "What!?" And he was all like , "yeah it doesn't even matter because playing on the line is all about emotion and that's what I coach them to do!"

You're right man. We'll have the same defensive scheme we used against the spread attack of State vs. the pro style offense of Alabama. I think we'll use a carbon copy of each defensive play call for EMU against Alabama. Better hope they don't find that film..

hate to say it but I see the same thing. No surge on dline. Not sure why others are afraid to admit it. Maybe it doesn't matter since we have lf7. Hope so.

Danielle Hunter and Lewis Neal have the same number of career sacks in an LSU uniform. Our DL isn't an issue, other than depth...

Three scholarships were wasted on D-Linemen (Bain, LMFAO, and T. Valentine) who are no longer on the team. There's no way to replace that contribution until next season unless a Squad player steps up (which is unlikely).
