Season after season a contender...even with roster turnover. I bet they keep on rolling after Brady retires.
Maybe someone from Nola should go up there and study their model...the one here is broken.

We should have actually cheated like they did instead of not cheating but still somehow getting caught.

The difference is the coach. We have a pussy for a coach.

It's what happens when you continually build through the draft and never rest on your laurels. They emphasize quality depth in the draft and identify the right time to cut aging players that would kill the cap. Payton and the organization got arrogant thinking they were always a couple moves away and didn't focus on continually building the team. Of course boutnygate exacerbated the issues.

Bill Parcells was also a master at building and sustaining NFL rosters. Years ago when SP was new to us, I though that he was like Bill Parcells in that regard.
I was totally wrong. SP has no idea how to build an NFL roster. Neither does Loomis.
The Saints were never destined to sustain greatness under the Payton/Loomis regime. You need a football guy who is a master at building an NFL roster, and, the Saints have never had that in their entire history.
People who thought that the Payton/Loomis Regime were going to make New Orleans the "New England Pats of the NFC" were totally and completely wrong. I saw the weakness of this regime years ago. I was pilloried for identifying the weakness of this regime years ago. I saw this coming from a thousand miles away, because we have never had a Bill Parcells type of guy running the FO.
We need a Bill Polian, or a Parcells or a Belicheck to come in and build the roster. Maybe this guy Ireland is the one. We shall see.

I remember someone made a thread on here comparing Payton and Brees to Belichick and Brady . That organization is truly something special. I am so jealous.

Cheaters always win in the NFL

No they don't, they eventually get exposed. This club has been spiraling down since before Bountygate. The responsibility begins and ends with the Head Coach and the front office.

The Patriots trade down in the draft for more draft picks. The Saints trade picks away. The draft is an educated craps shoot and the best way and proven way is to draft more players to improve your chance on hitting.

The common denominator here is that the pats have a great ownership situation that is stable, robust and strong and that flows down to the front office, coaches and players. Thats a must have for a sports franchise that wants sustained success.

FIFY.
Just sitting in the suite and owning a team isn't enough. You have to hire a competent and good front office that will hire good coaches who know how to get a develop payers and when it's time to cut them loose.

Doubtful the other 31 billionaires of the league have ever thought of such a novel idea

I was referring to day to day decision making. Certainly ownership bears responsibility. I think we started out on the right course and the ship has run aground. Unfortunately the organization from top to bottom currently has lost its rudder.

Payton was a cheater in his marriage and god is making him pay, karma is a bitch

I have no idea what you are talking about. The Patriots are awful, why are you trying the reverse jynx to make them look better?

Meh. Questionable secondary and over reliance on Gronk, they won't win it.
