Did the sea plane ride through the Misty Fjords. Was amazing. Definitely do that.

Off subject roger but what's everyday life like living in Alaska.
Depends on where you live. Anchorage isn't much different from other medium size cities. Every town and city is very different from the next. I'm in the Southeast which is about the size of Florida, but has 70,000 people total, about half live in Juneau.
You get a lot more amenities and things to do compared to a similar size town or city in the lower 48 because of relative isolation.

We took a helicopter tour that ended up landing on a glacier and it was fantastic. Ended up flying over a bunch of dall sheep and a few Grizzlies in the mountains on the way in.
Went with a couple of guys in a chopper the other day up to the Gilkey Glacier here in Juneau. Just taking photos and looking for goats. This is within the borders of the City of Juneau, near the Canadian border

Did a celebrity cruise about 10 years ago. Was great.
Same, enjoyed it more than the 5 Caribbean cruises I've done and Celebrity is a good line for adults. It's at least two days sailing from Vancouver to the first port, then a few port days and Glacier Bay which is stunning. I liked going through the inner passage about as much as the port days. Don't stay in the ports, find a way to get out and away from the tourist traps. We rented bikes in Ketchikan and put a lot of miles on them. In Skagway we rented a car and drove over Whitehorse pass through Canadian customs and on a bit so take your passport (need it for Vancouver anyway if you sail from there). Also drove out to the Dyea site a few miles from Skagway where we saw salmon and a few bears and did some hiking. It rained all day in Valdez. We finished in Seward, I think most do. It's worth a day or two extra stay in Seward after the cruise. A day trip cruise on Kenai Fjords out of Seward is a great way to see wildlife, lots of Humpbacks and some Orcas and a stop at a calving glacier. Really, as long as you are now in Alaska you should add a week after the cruise if you can.
ETA - In Juneau we took a bus and hiked around the base of Mendenhall Glacier which probably has receded a fair bit since then. Roger obviously knows more about that but you can take a relatively cheap bus to the glacier site from the cruise ship.

Shuttle buses are $20 bucks. City bus will stop about 1.5 miles from the visitors center but it's difficult to reach the glacier from the East Glacier area where all the tourist go. You can access it from West Glacier though. City bus will drop you off a mile or so from the trailhead. That's where you can access the ice caves as well.

As has been said its the absolute worst way to se Alaska. But it's better than not seeing at all.

I went two years ago in June.
We did excursions for salmon fiahing, kayaking and biking to a glacier and a brewery. It made me want to go back to rent a cabin for fishing/hiking someday.
I liked the trip, and thought it was worth it.
