a grandchild. Had a cousin was due a few months before. We wanted that part of the family to be able to travel for both so made sure there was a few months between.

My parents in Baton Rouge only casually watch LSU games on tv. We are just not a big college football family, never raised that way either.
Same for me
Same for many of my friends that still live in BR. They go to games when they can and enjoy it, but they don't let it rule their life like some people do.

I wouldn't have gone in the first place because it conflicted with a scheduled LSU game
Was the game scheduled to be played in SC at 11am?
Who gets married at 11am on a Saturday?

So in the future if you have a daughter and she happens to get married during football season you are just gonna say "sorry sweetie, would love to walk you down the aisle but my Tigers play that day"?
My daughter wont pull some dumb shite like getting married on a saturday during football season, so I wont have to worry about it.

I bet you wouldn't have scheduled your wedding during the Droppies.

I was going to the game in Columbia.
And my parents were married 32 years ago at Holy Name of Jesus in NOLA at 11:30 am

That is awesome.
I hope your daughter is a hippie and wants to get married in Montana outside in September barefooted on a Saturday.

Not uncommon at all.

by that point I'll likely have ended the streak. But I've been to too many weddings to count in the last 10 years and I've only had like 4 or 5 conflict with a game and I went to two of them.

Jeez man. Get a life already.

My sister in law's catholic wedding in AZ was also around 11:30 am. Reception immediately after lasted until 8 or 9pm if iirc

All good, bro.

Is there really any other sort of reception worth going to? Baptist/dry receptions are like pulling teeth.

Or maybe college football doesn't rule their lives and they wanted a wedding in the fall cause fall is one of their favorite times of the year
I'm with you that not everyone is obsessed with college football and it's okay to get married during the fall, but anyone in Louisiana getting married in October because "fall is their favorite time of year" is full of shite. It's still in the mid 80s. You can't even justify a pumpkin spice latte down there right now.

How many weddings are going to be screwed up this Saturday?
They already screwed up when they planned the wedding during football season

Well for me...from LA as were most of my guests...but wedding was in Destin.
I picked October because it was a time of year both my husband and I could easily take off work for(and for future anniversary trips), I love fall and wanted to be able to celebrate future anniversaries in the fall, weather is great in Destin that time of year, it isn't crazy peak tourist season there in October so beach would be less packed, and it was during school fall break for many of my family/guests with children.

It's South Carolina, who may very well be the worst team in the SEC. If you won't go to the wedding of a loved one for that game, then you're a shitty friend. Nothing but shite games next week.
